How Does an Air Purifier Work?

How Does an Air Purifier Work?

Given that more than 50 million Americans suffer to some degree from allergies and asthma, people are turning to us in greater numbers for ways to improve the quality of their indoor air. Why? Because, on average, it’s twice as polluted as outdoor air and can be up to 100 times more polluted.  By any reasonable standard, that’s cause for concern.

In most instances, we recommend the installation of a whole-house HEPA air filtration system.  It’s specifically designed to remove the causes of allergies, asthma, and other upper respiratory ailments from your indoor living environment, thus providing long-term relief.

Air purifiers employ fine sieves that filter and trap particles once they enter the filter. Some models can even trap gases and odors.

HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filters, unlike other air filtration products, are guaranteed to trap a minimum of 99.97% of particles larger than 0.3 microns. The human eye can’t see a particle smaller than 10 microns.

The more times air passes through an air purifier with HEPA filtration, the cleaner the air becomes. For the air purifier to be effective it must be large enough for the space where it’s intended for.

Here’s another benefit of a HEPA air filtration system:  it will help your AC and heating systems run more efficiently which, in turn, will result in lower utility costs, fewer repairs, and longer equipment life. Dirt and other contaminants don’t just float through the air. They land and get stuck on various surfaces, including your heating and cooling filters and other system components. So, the cleaner the air, the cleaner your systems, and from there the benefits just keep piling up.
